Twilight Cake

This is the amazing Twilight Cake, a collaborative effort between and myself. Everything is edible. The flower, the ribbon and the chess pieces are all made from fondant. She made the cake, the fondant, the checkerboard and the ribbon and I did the finicky little details like the chess pieces and the flower. I'm absurdly proud of the flower. (Nobody's willing to take credit for wrapping an actual apple in fondant... which was kind of lame, but still edible, right?) This was a birthday cake for her mother, a big fan of Twilight. This is the first time either of us have used fondant. It was a really fun experience! We'll definitely be doing it again!!
